Nourishing the Connections Cohort One

Each cohort is designed to serve up to 20 community members who identify as Black mothers—with a special emphasis on those who have been recently incarcerated and their children, as well as mothers who have active or recently closed child protection service cases. Each cohort consists of six two-hour sessions, and dinner will be provided at each session. The sessions will focus on parenting development through themes of:

  • career exploration through self-awareness cultivation

  • mental wellness,

  • life mapping with financial literacy,

  • agricultural development/farming,

  • housing,

  • seasoned senior storytellers and

  • education.

Note that Cohort One sessions are held bi-weekly on Wednesdays beginning October 30. You will receive more details once you register for the program.

Our goal for each session is to create engagement in discussion through shared experiences and provide comfort and support through group activities. Following cohort graduation, participants will be warmly encouraged to attend additional public convenings, fostering a sense of community and continued growth.

Participants will have the opportunity to receive transportation beginning after the first session of each cohort. In addition, each mother and child will receive a gift card for their participation in the program.
